Privacy

In effect from 2026-08-01

This page says what happens to personal data when you use hiiu.eu or hear from us. It is written to be read rather than to be defensible, and it describes what the site actually does today.

Who is responsible

Hiiu is being incorporated in Estonia. The registry code, VAT number and registered address are published here as soon as the registration completes. Until then Konstantin Tuzhikov in Tallinn is answerable for this site and reachable at konstantin@hiiu.eu.

What the website collects

The site is a set of static files behind a CDN. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and has no login. We do not build a profile of you from visiting it.

Our CDN and hosting providers process the technical data any web request produces, including your IP address, the page requested, and your browser's user agent. That is server logging, it happens before any code of ours runs, and it is what makes serving a page possible at all.

Booking a call

The booking link on this site is operated by Cal.com. If you book, you give your name, email address and whatever you type in the form directly to them, under their privacy policy, and we receive it so we can meet you. We use it for that meeting and follow-up, and nothing else.

If we contacted you first

We write to a small number of people about their own open-source work. If that is how you arrived here, the following is the notice we owe you under Article 14, because we did not get your address from you.

  • Where it came from: the commit history of a public repository you contributed to, where the address is part of each commit.
  • What we hold: your name and email address as they appear in those commits, the repository, and any reply you send.
  • Why: to ask you about how design and engineering work at your company. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in researching a product for that audience.
  • How long: until you tell us to stop, or twelve months after our last contact, whichever comes first.
  • How to stop it: reply and say so. We delete your details and do not write again.

Who else sees your data

Our hosting and CDN provider, and Cal.com if you book a call. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and there is no advertising on this site.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our use of it, or ask us to restrict it. Write to konstantin@hiiu.eu and we will answer within one month.

If you are unhappy with the answer you can complain to your national data protection authority. In Estonia that is the Andmekaitse Inspektsioon.

Customer source code

Hiiu the product reads a repository to build a copy of it. That is a separate relationship from this website, it only happens for customers who ask for it, and it is governed by the agreement we sign with them rather than by this page. No repository is read because you visited hiiu.eu.

Changes

When this text changes the date at the top changes with it. We do not quietly revise it.
